Dal with Mixed Lentils
Nutrition of all the lentils in one dal.
    Preparation Method
  1. Wash and soak the grams together for half an hour. Pressure cook in 3 cups water along with turmeric powder to a soft consistency. Mix lightly and set aside.
  2. Grind all the ingredients of the paste using as little water as needed.
  3. Heat ghee in a thick bottomed pan. Add little cumin seeds, as soon as they crackle add the paste and continue to sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add dry mango powder, cooked gram, 1 cup warm water and salt and allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve.
    Additional Note
  • The sweet-astringent taste of masoor (red lentil) and green gram balances pitta and kapha. The mixture of lentils and spices makes it a healthy dish.

    Hi,
    I have been going through your recipes which I love and if I try to save them it saves only the method of cooking and not the ingredients. Can you please let me know why this is happening?? or is there another way to save.

  1. 1/4 cup split masoor gram
  2. 2 tablespoon bengal gram
  3. 2 tablespoon split green gram
  4. 1 tablespoon split black gram
  5. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  6. 1/2 teaspoon dry mango powder (amchoor)
  7. 1 tablespoon coriander leaves
  8. salt to taste
  9. 2 teaspoon ghee
  10. For the paste
  11. 2 teaspoon coriander seeds
  12. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  13. 3 dry red chillies
  14. 2 cinnamon sticks (2 inch)
  15. 3 black peppercorns
  16. 2 cloves
  17. 1 tablespoon coriander leaves (chopped)
